Do You Like Roses?

At last I'm posting my Lovely Roses Booties. It was one of my on-going projects which I completed weeks ago. What do you think? Sweet right?! I was inspired to make these booties after a walk through a garden full of flowers. So now whenever I look at these booties, they just reminds me of that lovely afternoon! Enjoy....

Granny Squares

I have been wanting to share my patterns with you guys out there. So this is my first attempt and hopefully not the last. As I am currently making crocheted granny squares, I thought this will be the perfect start for me. So here's my first pictorial: The Granny Squares!!! It's simple and perfect for the beginner crocheter. Crochet away....

Tri-colour granny square.

Oh before that... you will need:

3 different colours of yarn
1 crochet hook (of course!)
1 yarn needle (to hide all the yarn tails)

Abbreviations:
ch chain
slst slip stitch
dc double crochet
sp space

Foundation Ring
With first yarn (I'm using brown here), make 4ch and join with slst to first ch to form a ring.

Make 4ch.

Join with slst to first ch.

The foundation ring.

Round 1
Ch3 (count as 1dc), 2dc into ring, 3ch, *3dc into ring, 3ch*. Repeat *to* two times. Join with slst to top of ch3. Fasten off.

Tips: Leave about a 8 cm / 3 inch tail when you cut the yarn so you will be able to secure or hide the yarn easily.

Make 3ch.

2dc into ring.

Continue with 3ch.

Join with slst to top of ch3.

Round 2:
With the second yarn (blue here), slst to 3ch sp (the corner of Round 1), ch3 (count as 1dc), 2dc into the same sp, ch3, 3dc into the same sp, ch1.

With second yarn, slst to 3ch sp of Round 1.

Ch3.

2dc into the same sp, ch3.

3dc into the same sp.

Continue with the next 3ch sp, *3dc, 3ch, 3dc, 1ch*. Repeat *to* 2 times. Join with slst to top of ch3. Fasten off.

Join with slst to top of ch3.

Round 3:
With the third yarn (cream here), slst to ch3 sp (corner of Round 2), ch3 (count as 1dc), 2dc into the same sp, ch3, 3dc into the same sp, 1ch, 3dc into the next 1ch sp, 1ch.

With third yarn, slst to 3ch sp of Round 2.

Continue with the next 3ch sp, *3dc, 3ch, 3dc, 1ch, 3dc, 1ch*. Repeat *to* 2 times. Join with slst to top of ch3. Fasten off.

Work your dc into the sp.

Slst to top of 3ch and fasten off.

Voila!!! There you go... Secure all the yarn tails and your granny square will look like this one here!

If you want to add more rounds, just repeat the same instructions as before to join a fourth yarn to Round 3 and add another 3dc and 1ch to the next 1ch sp. Slst as usual and fasten off. You can turn it into a coaster or anything you want!!!

Actually I have made quite a few granny squares. I am planning to make a cushion cover. Will post some pics when it's done. Hopefully soon... and happy crocheting everyone!!!!

On-going Projects!

I'm a multi-tasker. I have to have a few projects going on at the same time. The first one is a cream colour cross strap booties for a friend who just gave birth to a cute little girl. So i thought of adding a crocheted bow to the booties. Or maybe something else...

The second project which I started yesterday is a crocheted passport holder. I'm not sure whether this will worked or not. It's just that I wanted to try my hand at learning a new stitch called the 'alternating single crochet spike'. Maybe I should just change it to a dishcloth instead. So much simpler!

Hmmm... passport holder or dishcloth?

And my last project (at the time this was posted - who knows... I might decide to start another project tomorrow!) is a granny squares cushion. I have completed seven squares now. Hopefully the squares will end up being a cushion.

Leggings For Life

Late last year I came across a very great organization while browsing Facebook. I was having some spare time and was simply clicking here and there. It is called Leggings for Life (L4L for short!). What L4L does is   they provide custom-made leggings for animals (specifically dogs and cats) with limb deformity and paralysis to aid in the prevention of ulcerations. L4L is headed by Lisa, who is also a crocheter herself. What Lisa will do is she will match the nearest crocheter available to the animal who is in need of crocheted leggings. For more information on L4L, please visit L4L FB page at

www.facebook.com/leggingsforlife

You can read a short history of how L4L came about under the notes section. If you know of any animals that are in need of leggings, do email Lisa to request the information form first! And the email is LeggingsForLife@att.net. If you are around the Southeast Asia region, I am proud to say that most likely I will be crocheting the leggings!!! As a cat lover and also mad about crochet, I knew I must join L4L after reading about them. So I emailed Lisa immediately and received her reply a day later. I was accepted! Thrilled!!! So below are some photos of my very first leggings. I made two pairs. They were for Clover, a female pup in Indonesia. I will post more photos related to L4L soon, in the meantime... hope you enjoy these.

Didn't want to make any mistakes, so I took this photo to show Lisa before  mailing them.

Fun With Colours!

It has been quite awhile since I come up with new colours for my baby booties collection. I have been wanting to crochet more new booties to add to the current collection but I was just kind of lazy to pick up the hook after coming back from my little short break with hubby. But alas... I can't be in holiday mood forever right?! So I wanted something fun and cheerful, which is what I'm still feeling - post holiday. Lalala...

STRIPES!!!

Front, side, back...

Bright green stripy cross strap!

Electric blue stripy cross strap!

Cherry pink stripy cross strap!

Been crocheting like there's no tomorrow for the past 3 days!!! What do you think of my new collection? I hope you love them as much as I do! I will be listing these new booties in my little shop on Etsy and Zahoomi over the next few days. So head on over to my shop if you would like to purchase them.

Crocheted Leggings

I'm feeling great. Just mailed two pairs of leggings to Indonesia. The leggings are for a stray dog who was hit by  a car and now in the care of a vet. His name is Bolly. Bolly's guardian has requested for blue leggings and me being me just can't ignore the request! So i made two pairs of leggings, one in light blue and the other pair in dark blue. I'm 100% sure that Bolly will love the leggings now!!! Let us all pray for his speedy recovery.

Blue leggings as requested!
